66thieves

Recently myself and a friend who owns Geek Suite, Inc. got together and discussed a project I have been thinking about for the past several months. Putting ideas together over the last year or so, as well as possible ways to execute the idea, we came up with 66Thieves.com

66Thieves.com is an online clothing store. At the moment we are offering just t-shirts for Men and Ladies. In the near future, we will be offering much more, from baby tee’s, hoodies, kids hoodies, etc. Possibly messenger bags, and more! Currently we are getting ready to launch our second month of designs, which will involve removing some of the previous designs to make room for the new. This will happen every month, which will cause a lot of great designs to be replaced monthly, so make sure to snatch up what you can, when you can!

66Thieves.com is part of a larger corporation that includes a couple of amazing sites and a few more to come in the future. Currently the corporation sites include the newly designed BoxOfficeBuz which is dedicated to serving information to all of it’s viewers on thousands of different movies which are available to the public and upcoming in the theatre. The ability to interact with the site in so many ways is what gives it such an appeal, from rating to commenting, you can really spend all day on this site. The second site on the roster is GeekSuite, a website dedicated to all you geeks out there! This website gives great views on games, books, comics, movies, gadgets and more, allowing the users to comment, rate and even write article reviews on certain topics and items.

Be sure to check out our sites mentioned above. Keep an eye out for contests, give aways and even events!

Design Inspiration… A never ending quest.

Design Inspiration

Here I am, it’s 12am on a Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, whichever way you decided to look at it, and I am scouring the web looking at design showcases, inspiration sites and blogs. I’m looking for some ideas to play off to create a design for a new client, and I am noticing that there are literally thousands of styles: Grunge, Modern, corporate, K.I.S.S, and then the random flat out horrible catastrophes.

These are sites I have in my daily reads in my RSS, SmashingMagazine.com for example. All of which have hundreds of articles which are used as examples of designs around the world, Germany, Netherlands, China, etc. This got me thinking, “where do people get their inspiration?”. There seems to be hundreds of design styles, and each one has it’s place on the web, but how do people find the motivation and creativity to make something completely different than the previous?

Personally, I find it hard in some cases to find motivation and enthusiasm to move on with designs and sites without completely being able to envision the design in my head before moving forward with my first draft, and a lot of the time I find myself browsing old showcases and portfolio sites to get some ideas on how I can advance my design capabilities, and with that as well my development capabilities because we all know, with more intricate designs come more needs for development strategies to get them functional. Maybe it’s about processes, or surroundings, but I find myself spending more and more time looking for something great to inspire me.

Am I the only one who takes so much time with the thought process or is this just myself being picky about what I am doing? Maybe the fear of producing more designs that I am not 100% happy about? Granted that I am only a baby in the industry, and that I have not worked for as long as many other designers nor do I even have any formal design training outside of highschool art classes.

What are your suggestions for advancement, Inspiration, or process? Should I maybe go to the college and take some art classes? Maybe attend some local sketching and hand drawing classes and get back to the core of design and art itself…? I used to be VERY artistic growing up, but seems I’m at a block lately.

I appreciate any input. Thanks all. :D

Hobgoblins & Trolls?

hobgoblins&trolls

I needed a better name for this article than “another update” so I decided to be creative in a bad way.

Basically I just wanted to update on what has been going on with me lately as far as work and future projects. Lately I have been putting a lot of time into school, and working freelance for several contracts, but I have also been focusing my time toward a new personal project that I am very happy about.

Woah, Personal Project!?

Due to my secretive ways, I don’t plan on letting you know what my personal project is, but I do know that once I get it up and running, I hope everyone will be as excited about it as I am currently. Once I get all the important things such as a logo finalized, and a domain purchased, I will start advertising my super secret project, but for the time being its going to stay hidden. This project is still very much in the beginning stages, and even tho I have it planned out, I am still getting started, so it won’t be up for a few months or so.

Availability?

Am I available for personal work? Yes, I am always available for personal work. Currently I have several contracts pending, and a couple on the go. Working for local companies also keeps me busy, but I am always looking to work with great people to get their projects onto the web, so please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you have any questions please feel free to post a comment…
